Swedish PostkodLotteriet is a national subscription lottery, where part of the proceeds go to charity. The lottery has around one million subscribers (that's one in every nine Swedes!) and in 2010 they gave 729 million SEK to charity organizations such as Red Cross, Greenpeace and WWF.
To shine light on the work these organizations are undertaking around the world, the appointed adventurer Johan E. Nilsson to go on an un-motorized expedition from the Northpole to the Southpole, visiting the organizations on the way. Johan will ski, dog sleigh, kite surf, bike and sail the 20000 some kilometers during eleven months, over the Arctic, Greenland, all the way through the Americas and finally across Antarctica. PostkodLotteriet asked Great Works to develop a platform where users can take part in the endeavor.

On pole2pole.postkodlotteriet.se you can follow the expedition in real time. Johan’s wearing a GPS-locator that updates his position to the site every ten minutes. Daily updates containing videos, photos, audio clips and blog posts from Johan are all geo-tagged. On the site you can also learn about the fantastic work the charity organizations are doing and see how the money from PostkodLotteriet are making a difference, from pole to pole.
